The documentary “Dancing on Road”, created by filmmaker Lauren Gee, was produced as part of Warner Bros. Discovery Access’ Black Britain Unspoken program, an initiative launched in 2022 to champion underrepresented Black British creatives. Now in its third year, the program gives filmmakers a unique pitch-to-production experience, while also providing tailored professional development workshops through Media Trust. Its mission is clear: to amplify authentic voices and create opportunities for Black directors, writers, and producers in an industry where representation is still lacking.
Headlined and narrated by Glide & Flow’s head coach Shreen, the film shines a light on the Black British female roller-skating community and its cultural roots. Our own Glide & Flow members, including Coach Abra and Tania, were featured on wheels, showcasing the skill, artistry, and flow that make this community so powerful.
“Dancing on Road” has already gained international recognition, airing on the Discovery Channel, being screened at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, and is now an award nominee at the Leeds International Film Festival. More than a film, it celebrates heritage, creativity, and the empowering spaces that Glide & Flow continues to nurture both on and off the rink.
